10. Ankle Foot Orthosis Devices
Ankle-foot orthosis devices (AFOs) are used to maintain proper alignment of your ankle and control motion. It encloses the back of your calf and the bottom of your foot, allowing motion of your ankles or not depending on your condition. The AFOs feature raised arches to offer support to your flat feet.
11. Activity Modifications
Avoid activities that cause you pain. Such activities can include driving for long distances, standing for extended periods of time, running or jogging, lifting or carrying heavy weights, and kicking with your feet.
Avoiding such activities protects your foot from increased damage. It also reduces inflammation and gives torn muscles or tendons time to heal.
12. Avoid High Impact Sports
High impact sports such as rugby and football can cause extensive injuries. They also exert a lot of pressure on your feet, making it hard to heal and thus increasing your pain. If you engage in light sporting activities such as walking or jogging, ensure you have proper shoes for controlled motion and excellent support.
